“I like us being able to open up about things.” A husky chuckle escaped her. The sound rubbed along his nerve endings, stirring up sparks. “My debts keep me up every night.” A coyote howled in the distance. He let his gaze track upward over her fine legs as she stood. The view was amazing but he needed to say goodnight and get some sleep.

Angie watched carefully as Ricky went back to his room. The lights to her room were off, she couldn’t help but feel jealous. Holy cow, this has gone too far. She said to herself. She leaned on the closed window and gaped at Flora who was smiling to her room. Her plan was utterly ruined.

CHAPTERSEVEN

The taxi pulled up in Jerome’s driveway.

“We are here sir,” the cabbie announced.

“Thanks.” Jerome thrust a twenty at the cabbie and jumped out of the cab. He peered up his building, he always checked before barging in.

“What the hell?” Jerome looked up to see if there was any sign of a tornado that had torn his porch. His welcome mat was upside down, everything didn’t fit. No one knew who he was and they would never think of vandalizing every neighbor’s porch. This was definitely the work of someone who knew who he was. The front door was locked, that only meant that the person who did it knew him. The person who did this might still be around, he thought. He fumbled for the lock, the metal key scraped against the wooden panels. After several attempts, the key slipped in. He slammed the door in an instant.
