​The regulartory commission decided to cut back on tobacco production and the big plantations was their bullseye. They sent William Collinsworth a letter stating he had to decrease his production in half immediately. He wasn't going to destroy half of his crops. The commission sent Morgan to talk reality to his father. William refused to do that so Morgan had to file charges on him and Jamison to prosecute him in a court of law.

​During the process Gloria not liking his money being spent on lawyers trying to save his business. She left him taking a lot of things with her. She filed for divorce and wanted half of the plantation plus her beauty salon in town. The judge in Collinsworth ordered that their posessions to be split up. Gloria did get her beauty salon but nothing else due to the fact they hadn't been married that long. Her daughters kept their college trust fund with her lawyer as excutive overlooking it.

The money would be available when they graduated from school. Gloria was furious over the judgement She threatened him and the plantation. His lawyer advised him to spilt up the land giving half to someone in the family. William informed him at the time he was disowning both of his sons and would give half of it Clarity if she promised to leave the crop just the way it was.He also took Gloria and her daghters out of his will.
