“Do you understand why I decided that I had to find you? Do you see why it was not something that I could simply call you and tell you on the phone when I did?” Johnnie asked her as he watched her closely.
She nodded at him. And then Angeline shivered. “Okay, so tell me everything you know. First, are their only two bodies? Just tell me everything.”
Johnnie nodded and told her that he would fill her in on all the details. She quickly put on a pot of coffee for him and made sure that she had several Cokes in the refrigerator. She was glad that tomorrow was an off day; she only had office duty for three hours. She did not have to be at the office till 11:00 so that would give them time to talk and then get some sleep.
Johnnie explained that they had those two within the state. Then, as they began to look for the car of their second victim, they found a third body and, as of now, there were five in all.
“It started out in a stolen car from Batesville, and that held the first victim. Her car had to be missing, but with no way to determine who she was, we did not know what type of car to be looking for. However, when we found the second victim, she was in a car that turned out to belong to our first victim. So far, that is how we have identified them. We now have found five bodies, and we have four cars. This means we have one who has not been identified and until the next victim turns up in that car, we are not sure that we can identify them.”
