It was in this area that many animals would come to Kaori to offer their help to her if she needed it. Again, there was not actually communication as the animals would just gather around on occasion. One particular large hawk would come to her most mornings and be by her as she sang and prayed to the Gods. This hawk and a large bear actually watched over Kaori as she prayed and created songs for use within her village.

Kaori would look into the eyes of this hawk and would enter a trance. Things would be brought to her mind and ideas would flourish. The entire animal, plant, and insect kingdom would connect to Kaori at this time. She was growing into greater wisdom and love through her daily work in this practice.

Kaori named the hawk “the eye” and the bear was simply bear. They were part of the connection that Kaori had with her gods. They were wild, but were completely harmless when in the presence of Kaori.

On occasion Yousho would join Kaori in the meadows. He would just enter a meditation as Kaori looked into the eyes of this hawk. Initially he was a little uncomfortable with the large bear that would join them; however, he quickly surmised that this was another of Kaori’s friends that joined her each day.
