Hayshua was a village depended heavily upon Mento for many things not made in Hayshua. On the other hand, Mento was heavily dependent upon Hayshua. As a trading post on the river, Mento was able to provide the area with goods created from distant lands including Reine.
Gendua found a Hayshua man who she married within a few months of moving to Hayshua. This man was to become the father of Kaori and Kiki. He was a man who was part of the spiritual group within Hayshua and his household was one wherein these spiritual practices enhanced the household.
Though Kaori’s grandmother was the healer and the elder in the household, both Ibuki and Kaori’s father lead the household and both noticed the tremendous potential of Kaori and raised her appropriately.
“Prayer as a way of life is a good thing,” said Ibuki to the household one morning.
“This child who is now old enough to learn to love the gods. We must help her to understand that in her mind, she lives among the gods. Kaori and I will walk into the meadows each morning to make that a place for her to enjoy her heaven among the Gods. My beloved granddaughter, please learn from me and the gods as we walk and speak this morning,” said Ibuki.
