Darin refused to let Monica go with her college to help with the hurricane disaster relief mission. He had a tornado safety room built in their garage and locked Monica in the room. He talked with Professor Collins when she came to get her. He told her that Monica was no longer wanting to attend her class and would be dropping out of college.
He slapped Monica wanting to know what doctors and nurses was going. She informed him that she wasn't sure which lead to her hair being pulled while slamming her against the wall. When she still wouldn't tell him she was hit in the face by his fist then he picked up pistol and took the safety off and held it up to her temple. She told him that she really didn't know but he could find out by calling the hospital.
He found out that the indian Chief Graywolf's son Scott was going to head the medical team. That evening Darin told his officers that Monica was under the weather and wouldn't be at work for a few days. He gave the assignments out to the officers that wasn't in his little group of officers.
