She commented that she didn't know which pair had initiated their realationship. Lucas commented that several times he noticed a couple of goats walking in their fields. Rosemary told Mr and Mrs. Jones that Bella and Willa could stay in their pen for awhile. Jedediah and Herrietta thanked her for the offer and agreed that yes their girls would be safer there instead of just roaming free til they could build another barn.
The next weekend a truck of lumber arrived and they were able to build a smaller barn for their three horses along with their lamb, goat and their one and only milk cow. Their beef cattle had pole sheds in the pasture where along with a good size pond. The silo where they kept the feed for the cattle wasn't torched. The Jones family and the police thought the person or persons torching the town was sending a message. While the polce was investigating the town's people started getting physical threats in the mail to sign over their property to this bogus company for pennies on the dollar or they would be subject to what happened in Shawville.
The police investigated what happened to the residents of Shawville. It was terrible. Whole families was murder at a time. After the fifth family that was murder families became scared and sold out for pennies on the dollar. The ones that did stay the state did a buy out saying the land was contaminated by an accidental chemical leak. Those town folks was geting sick and knew it was done intentionally when the company came in and did their streets.
