One day I asked my uncle about it. He said that I shouldn’t worry about that. Religion is for old people. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Don’t concern yourself in such matters. Besides, if religion was real and God actually existed, why do so many bad things happen in the world? Concentrate on your grades and you will go far.
Uncle Frank made sure I stayed on track with my studies and he deterred me from having any opportunity of hearing about church. I wasn’t allowed to associate with the kids next door, because they went to church. In fact, he hated church people so much, my uncle would chase anyone away that would knock on the door and try to tell him about the Bible. I had no idea what the Bible was or why these people were bad but I decided, at an early age, not to get involved with these people or have anything to do with the Bible
