"Feed to survive," Dantalion muttered, raising his claws over Rowan, the opaque wave healing his wounds. He picked him up, carrying him back to the Courtyard wall.

"I don't know if I should thank you or kill you," Rowan mumbled sarcastically. "Where's Laurel?"

"While we were forging our demonic powers, Satan took her!" Dantalion howled.

"Now who's the fool?" Rowan yelled. "Because of you showing off your shape shifting powers, you let your guard down!"

"I tried to save her," Dantalion protested.

The demons both collapsed onto the stone wall, still clouded with pitch, not a sign of the winged guardian demons nor Satan. A light rain began to fall over the Courtyard, and Dantalion rose, shaking off the water from his body like guilt. Coming closer toward my lifeless body, he threw himself onto the ground, defeated.

His message did not go unnoticed. Seven archangels descended a spiral stairway within the fires of the Courtyard of the Undead. Never moving away from their hallowed ground, they illuminated an aura of gold and silver around the base of the stairway.

Gabriel, one of the celestial beings spoke: "Dantalion, child of God, guardian of mankind, thy servitude has been met by the passing of two ages. Thy fallen can reclaim thy salvation - an appointment to seraphim, the highest order among angels. Thou selfless acts saving the girl have earned thee immortality once more."

Dantalion held up my lifeless body. "Look what has become of a mortal's love and strength. Her soul hath been stolen and left to die!"

"Do not mourn for her spirit, if thy reclaim thy place among God, he will restore her soul," Gabriel promised. "But understand this, once thou ascends heaven, thou shalt never touch upon the girl again."

"Forever I thought of nothing but immortality, to reclaim salvation, until I loved a mortal girl, one who transcended time to be with me. Who loved me enough to die for me."

"Thou hath ten days to decide. If thou doth not choose salvation, thou wilt remain demon in the mortal dominion for all eternity. Remember, thy hath been cursed as a demon of the Goetia. Thy exile was an act of mercy. Thy were not sealed like the other demons, those who pay allegiance to Satan. You may be forced into servitude once again, but under an infernal exile and not of an angelic one," Gabriel declared.

"The only allegiance I am bound to is the girl's. I will try to summon Satan himself, and reclaim Laurel's soul. I know the exchange will be owed for an eternity. I will look for thee on the tenth day here as we are now in the Courtyard," Dantalion bowed his head.
