The moonstone was tucked under my tongue and I was hoping this 'drawing down the moon' energy would release the stone's power. We continued with the spiral dance, by the High Priestess' command, each member working individual spells under the power of the full moon. I recited my own personal incantation, and when all the voices came to a whisper, we released hands thrusting our energies toward the center of the circle. I felt the stone burning hot in my mouth. I spit it out onto my hand and its milky color turned completely clear. I fell into a trance-like state envisioning the face of Dantalion. I saw him reach out to touch me, only it wasn't me, but the face of another demon with red eyes. The demons devoured one another, and with each attack, gained strength and power.
The High Priestess closed the Circle, pointing her athame once again up to the night sky.
"Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the East, thank you for attending our realm."
She moved South, West and finally North, kissing the blade at all four points.
After the ceremony, the students joining the circle sat amongst us, all staring in bewilderment at the power of energy we had just raised.
"Laurel, I never would have believed it until I was actually a part of it!" one boy said, staring across from the group in the circle.
The High Priestess added, "We hope you will rejoin our group again for more spell work and ritual," directing her voice toward the visiting students. "There is much practice to be done in mastering the art of magick."
In addition to the thirteen members holding the ritual, twenty others joined us this night to see for themselves what Wiccan magick was all about. Religious Studies offered many different cultures and beliefs, but this was one that stood aside from the rest. Not only was this ceremony a part of my overall grade for the semester, but it was a way of life I practiced on a daily basis.
"Laurel has been mastering visions and clairvoyance for years," the High Priestess smiled over at me from across the circle.
"Maybe she would like to share with our group some of her experiences."
I knew this whole idea was part of my class project, but it was a part of me that I tried to keep to myself. I studied herbal lore, practiced tarot, and mastered every spell imaginable that actually worked its magick for me. I really didn't want to go into detail explaining to the group right now. My friends Erin and Lucia were still new to the art, and it took them weeks just to focus their attention on meditation.
