"I could not have picked a more perfect person for my grandson."

"I'm not perfect."

"Exactly. You balance each other. Where you are weak he is strong and vice versa. You may not understand this now, but in time you will."

"What about Clay?" Megan asked. "How do you know Colby is more right for me than Clay?"

Gray Cloud laughed. "Clay's wind keeps him close to the landscape, close to nature. You need a wind that has gone places and can help foster your dreams and goals."

Despite her progress in understanding Gray Cloud, his words still offered confusion. Somehow she knew it would never change. Again, it came back to later. She was starting to despise the word.

"I sense you have doubts and fears," he said.

"Yes. I appreciate your words and guidance, but you confuse me. I don't understand wind talk. What are you saying?"

He patted her arm. "You will not like me much for saying this, but in time you'll understand."

"Ooh," she said, shaking her fists at Gray Cloud. His chuckle caused her to laugh and she knew that despite his ambiguity, she would forever turn to this man for advice and guidance. "Here's a question you may be able to answer," she said. "Colby says to live in the moment, but can I do well with my studies and have a wonderful relationship at the same time?"

"You can be grounded and still dance with the wind."

She contemplated his words for a minute but found no answer. "It sounds complicated."

"Let your heart and soul direct you in life," Gray Cloud said. "Feel more than think."

"Be spontaneous?" Megan said, and then bit her lip. Every move she had ever made had been premeditated; the good and the bad weighed before making a decision. Except last summer when it involved searching for Jill. There was no thought in running off to find her. "How do I find that energy to help me?" she wondered.

"Spontaneity is good, to a point," Gray Cloud said. "Continue your education. Study hard and follow those dreams. Through your dreams you will find freedom, which leads you to dancing like a spirit wind. No worries, frets, or fears about how you look or what others think. What matters is what's in here," he said pointing to his heart.

He left Megan to ponder his words. Through dreams I find freedom. Dance like a spirit wind. Follow my heart. As if struck by lightning, Megan jumped to her feet, scrambled putting her socks and boots on, and raced Misty back to the ranch. While she put the mare in her stall, Clay joined her.
