"I went to see Tumi." Tebogo said breaking into her thoughts. For a minute there she had forgotten about him or what they had been talking about.

"That was very thoughtful of you. Are the nurses taking good care of him?"

"I fired two and kept one." Tebogo said finally losing interest on the scenery. He went to the fridge and got himself a beer.

"What you do that for? Your brother needs all the care he can get now that I'm here sorting out this custody nonsense." Rose said. Before she came to Johannesburg she had taken the liberty of hiring three of the most qualified home nurses. She hadn't wanted Tumi to feel abandoned.

"Consider that custody nonsense solved." He told her. "And as for the nurses, Tumi doesn't need them. He will survive just fine with one."

Rose stared at him agape. Tebogo had always thought she spoilt Tumi and maybe she did. So what? She was his mother and she would spoil Tebogo too if he would allow her.

"What do you mean, solved?" She asked daring to hope. Tebogo went to the study desk and produced an envelope.

"You don't have to worry about it anymore. It's all taken care of." He handed her the envelope. Rose opened it with shaking hands and read through it.

"I don't believe this." She said her eyes running through the document. "Tebogo Motsepe have you completely lost your mind?"

"No, mother." He answered her, his eyes fixed on hers. "I've lost my heart." He said simply and then laughed cruelly.

"You talked your brother into signing his rights off!?" Rose couldn't believe it. She wouldn't believe it. Tebogo wouldn't do that to her, not when he knew how badly she wanted Joy. He was her son. He was on her side and did what she told him to. "How do you explain this?" She asked throwing the document on the table.

"Simple mother." He said sitting down and crossing his legs. "Tumi has no rights. He lost that the day he allowed you to come between him and Sindi. Now you may have your reasons for doing that but he had none for letting you. He watched as you threw his son and wife out and did nothing to stop it. He didn't even go after them to make sure they were okay."

"That is in the past Tebogo and how dare you bring it up?" Rose said her cheeks coloring red.
