With her resolutions made she went to take a bath. Just as she was about to step into the bath, a knock came at the door. Her heart accelerated. She put on her gown and hurried to the door. Maybe she had been wrong. Maybe he had left to get himself some breakfast. All she had in her kitchen was cereal and a big man like him would need more than cereal. She pulled the door with a ready smile that died when she realized there were no maybes.

"Miss Dladla?" The woman standing at her door asked pleasantly. Her eyes were not pleasant though. They were cold and threatening. She had a hard face and a square chin. Mandisa didn't need to ask who she was "Mrs. Motsepe." Mandisa said curtly. The older woman smiled.

"Now that we have the formalities out of the way, shall we get down to business?" She said stepping inside the apartment. Her behavior didn't surprise Mandisa; the whole family could do with a lesson in manners.

"And what business might that be?" Mandisa asked facing the woman with her hands crossed.

"When can I see my grandson?" The woman didn't beat around the bush. She sat on the couch and folded her hands on her lap like a proper lady.

"And what grandson would that be? From what I hear your son had been planting his seeds everywhere." Mandisa said cruelly.

"So you are the one who has been spreading such filthy lies about my son. I do not appreciate that." The woman said hatefully.

"And what makes you think I give a damn about what you appreciate?" Mandisa asked feeling her temper rising. Rose Motsepe was an aristocrat if Mandisa had ever seen one, pity her attitude was from the gutter.

"You be careful now, little miss." Rose said her own temper rising. "My son may have felt the need to be nice to you but I don't."

"Nice?" Mandisa couldn't believe that Rose actually thought her son had been nice to her. "If that is what you call nice, I wouldn't want to see his nasty."

"Good." Rose said getting up. "Then you will do what is right and allow Joy to return with me to Durban."

"Lady, I don't know what planet you live in but I'm sure its capital city is delusional." Mandisa said angrily. "It would be a cold day in hell before I let you go anywhere with Joy."
