Days past and Audrey and Buster was not only getting used to each other and when she would take her little hand pick and was scratching out a picture on the mine's wall he would scratch the floor or the mine with his front hoof. Audrey saw a couple of stones about the size of a big gum ball you get for a quarter out of a machine at a laundry mat. She called Ben and told him that she needed his professional input on a couple of nuggets that she found in a wall in the mine. She even told him they maybe fool's gold. That evening he stopped by and took the nuggets to check them out further.
She was told that if they were real it would be worth a few hundred dollars. When he told her that the nuggets was real gold. Audrey told him to keep them that was payment for all he had done for her. He said okay and life continued fairly normal until Buster got to the age where he needed more than just milk and Ben brought a bag of horse feed and groceries for Audrey. She told him that she couldn't afford the groceries but she would take Buster's food and Ben told her that the nuggets was worth a little more than want he had spent on her so Audrey then took them and thanked him.
Ben was hoping by the time the big Autumn festival rolled around that Audrey wouldn't have to stay locked up in the mine. It was raining pretty straight for days and a lot of the farmland lost their crops. Ben couldn't make it to see Audrey for the flood but knew Buster and her should be fine up in the gold mine. Buster wanted more of his food than what the veterinarian had told Audrey to feed him and would shake his head and nayed like he was saying no to her when she told him that he gets one scoop full in the morning and one in the evening. Audrey told him with all of this rain that it maybe days until another food delivery came and both of them would have to make their food last
Audrey did more wall paintings and Buster did more floor paintings. Audrey could hear the rain was getting heavierand some times it ranned under the main entrance. Audrey was keeping an eye on it fairly good. She found a few more nuggets about the same size of the ones that she gave to Ben. She thanked God for them and said if she kept finding these little nuggets that she and Buster would survive until her eighteenth birthday
