It was a beautiful spring day, doesn't everyone fall in love on a beautiful spring day? Betty was sitting on the bus when her newest friend Tracy hopped on the bus and came to sit by her. They had just met the previous summer and although they had formed a great friendship, they were growing apart. Betty didn't know why,but she assumed it was because she was not one of the popular girls at school. But she was going to try to remain Tracy's friend. Before Tracy had moved to this little town, Betty's two best friends had moved away. She really missed them. As she came out of her thoughts she saw they were pulling up to the school, and they both got off and rushed to classes. She didn't have a lot of classes with Tracy but third period they had a science class together. They were studying the parts of the body and Betty was learning them pretty well considering she was memorizing them because of a song. Dem bones The neck bone is connected to the head bone so on. As Betty was trying to memorize the order, Tracy leaned over and said "Look there is Sean, I think he is adorable", Betty, "yes I totally agree", Tracy "I wonder if he likes us" Betty "I suppose you could ask him" Tracy "yes let's, let's write a note asking him" Betty felt uncomfortable but decided to go along. The note read "hey Sean, you are so cute." Betty didn't see what Tracy wrote but they passed the notes over to Sean. After a few minutes he passed a note back "thanx for the encouragement". Betty thought, wow that was a let down. Well, Betty had a couple other boys she was interested in, but one of them was going steady. This is pretty much how all of 10th and 11th grade went. In 12th grade Betty had started spending time at her sisters in town to help babysit when needed, it allowed her to meet a new friend and spend time with her, Jennifer. Betty and Jenniifer went to the local plant and got graveyard shift jobs. They worked the graveyard and then went to school and then on home for a few hours sleep. At school they walked to the local store at lunch to get their lunch and then walked back to school. One day, a young man was sitting in his truck and asked them to come over. When they got over to his truck he asked them to sit in his truck with him. By luck Jennifer had to go to class. Betty still had a few minutes. The young man introduced himself as Jeff Winters. As they sat there talking about school, Jeff asked Betty to go to the drive in movies with him. Betty said she would like that.
