Zia’s heart skipped a heartbeat.. She felt asif someone punched her heart. Jai kept looking at her. Zia felt very shy.. it was difficult for her to hide her feelings at this moment. She immidiately started searching something inside her purse. Her hair falling on one side of her face. She kept her head buried inside the purse for a while in order to avoid jai. ‘Kya hua?’ Jai interrupted.. ‘Kuch nahi?’ ‘Then what are you searching?’ ‘Emmm my mobile’ jai kept zia’s mobile in front of her which was lying on the table. ‘Bass kar naatak. Majaak kar raha tha. Kitna sharma rahi hai… behnji.’ Pulling her hair away from her face zia replied ‘Mat na jai. Aaj atleast..’ ‘Ok ok sorry. Not again. Let’s order something. And no juice this time. Order some snacks.’ Zia’s heart was still beating in full pace.. all this was so unexpected. ‘Don’t be so good jai that it’ll be difficult for me to handle your separation’ zia sighed.
They both ordered pav bhaji and juice. ‘Ok Zia. So tell me something interesting.. about your life..your college life.’ Jai asked bending near zia across the table. ‘Nothing interesting . You know engineering na. One hardly gets time to lift your head from the books.’ ‘So no boy friends?’ ‘Nope’ ‘Crushes toh honge definitely. Comeon zhoot mat bol ab’ ‘No re. None yet. Haan there are few interested in me, but i don’t like any of them. And the one i like are already engaged’ she secretly hinted to jai. ‘Tell me about your life now’ zia said. ‘Well .. I come from a not so well-to-do family. Dad works on off shores and mom is a housewife.. takes tutions for helping dad. Lil bro.. more interested in football than studies. And me.. wasted dad’s 1 year savings by failing the first year. Realising my mistake, took up the call centre job so that can fund for my next year atleast.’ Jai paused. Zia was hearing (and looking) attentively to what jai was saying with her hand on her left cheek. Meanwhile their food arrived. There was silence between both of them. ‘Hey it’s okay yaar’ zia said. Jai smiled at zia and they both had their food chatting on different topics from schools college picnics movies etc. But zia did not talk about jai about his girlfriend.. for obvious reasons..😶
