With the realization that things weren't going to change, Lindsey began to lose all hope. Lindsey’s struggles with the teacher in school were not only affecting her to concentrate in class, but were also affecting her social life. As it was, Lindsey already had very few friends. Though Lindsey didn’t know it, other kids were very jealous of Lindsey because she was very pretty. The kids always teased Lindsey, calling her retard, buck tooth, stinky, ugly and whatever they could think of to call her. But Lindsey didn’t know that it was because they were jealous of her. She always thought it was because she was so ugly that they were embarrassed to be around her and made fun of her to impress their friends. Lindsey was also quite talented. She was really good with a pencil, and could sketch draw almost anything. She was also very Athletic. She was the fastest track runner in the school, and she was really good at gymnastics and dance. Previously when she was doing so well in school, she used a lot of her free time doing the things she really likes such as; knitting, drawing, running, dancing, and sharpening her gymnastics and dance skills. Unfortunately because of everything she was going through, Lindsey was so depressed now, that she wasn’t even able to focus on her education, let alone the fun things in life. Lindsey often thought about her fourth grade teacher, and how kind she was to her, and how different she was from Mrs. Denmark. She often wished there was a way that she could have Mrs. Count as her teacher forever. Lindsey thought about how in the fourth grade, with the help of her teacher, she was able to overcome her learning disability, and learned to read really well, despite all of the obstacles in front of her. This time she was struggling with math, and felt completely helpless and hopeless. Every night Lindsey’s mother stayed up late with Lindsey, doing her best to teach her how to solve divisions. Despite their best efforts it seemed hopeless. Lindsey was so drained mentally and emotionally, that it was also affecting her physically.
