Magnolia wasn't the type of student that most colleges was looking for. She wasn't into sports of any kind. Medicine or law wasn't her calling either . Her counsellor asked her why she wanted to attend the Maxwell college. She told him that her family had always attended the college and they expected her to do just that. She signed up for cooking classes and was hoping to own a restrauant some day. To back that up she also signed up for journalist classes.

The journalist classes would help her to be able to publish her recipes. She liked to experiment in the kitchen and was in hopes to someday she would have at least one cook book with nothing but her own dishes in it. The first year of college she decided that cooking wasn't her talent but journalist was her calling. She had raised to the top of her class. She also found out she was great in interior designing and change from cooking to home interior designing

.

That class is where she met Sam at. He started calling her Maggie instead of Magnolia. They hung out together on weekends that they both stayed at college. She visited home when she could but her mother was so busy with the family's bed and breakfast business. There was a little problem at the bed and breakfast that needed fixing. Her mother closed that part up and was in hopes that Maggie's father might get to feeling strong enough to do. The business was just barely above water. She also had taken in both of their parents instead of an assistant living facility.
