School started but there was no funding for books and if you couldn't buy them yoursef you were sol and a lot of the students quit school becuse there was no way of keeping up in school. Allie's best friend was about to quit when Allie's parents came to the rescue and she got the books that she needed. Allie gave her a ride to school but her friend was into track so she stayed after school.
Allie's grandparents was lucky enough that they hadn't had to use any of their allotted medical health insurance yet but many of their friends had and was evicted and moved in with other family members Within a couple of weeks the school announced that non essentials after school activities had been cancelled. The essentials list was very short which included the football team, baseball team, and basketball team.
Then the school district cancelled all free school lunches, then the head start program was cancelled, then the before and after school program, and then school buses to save money.Then grades was being put together to let teachers go without pay. so second grade teachers was teaching both first and second graders, fourth grade teachers was teaching third and fourth grade students, sixth grade teachers was teaching fifth and sixth grade students. and so on
