When school was out for the summer Luke and Madelyn brought Victoria up to visit Thomas and Karen. It was the first time since Madelyn was a teenager that she had seen her grandfather Henry. She had a great time visiting with them until Henry called her Maddy. Luke gave her the meanest look he could. She asked Thomas if Victoria could spend the summer at the mansion. They were closing the house not just for the summer to go overseas but then they would be looking for a farmhouse when they came back .They thought maybe Connecticut or Pennsylvania. After Victoria's parents left Victoria asked them where Buffy was. Grandma told her that Buffy died and showed her the little urn and replaced it back on the fireplace mantle along with pictures of Victoria with Buffy.

Those few weeks of summer was busy with going to the farmers market, cleaning, doing laundry, cooking and canning. Victoria kept looking at dogs that had been rescued and put up for adoption. Grandpa Thomas didn't want another dog get into Luke's crosshair for no fault of the dog. All three of the adults really wanted one as bad as Victoria did. Shortly before Victoria was due to go back home Madelyn and Luke made a unexpected visit to the mansion. While Thomas was greeting them in the front hall Karen took the urn to the linen closet. They came with all of Victoria's things and asked if she could move in with them until high school.

They cited that they were moving to a farm and with the dust allergy of Victoria's they didn't want her there until they could paved the roads and get the new drug approved here in the states. Madelyn told her parents how successful this one drug was in Europe but the FDA had just started testing it here in the states and it wouldn't be on the market for at least three years.

That was alright with Henry, Thomas, and Karen. They had heard things from their friends in Louisville that Luke and Madelyn was a part of a group that loved to sling and they were not talking about slinging on the television set. Several of their friends that was their age was moving to get away from what Louisville was becoming. One of the family's lawyer had heard some very bad things going on in Louisville against the older citizens and Christians All they could about it was to pray for them and the people of Louisville.

The next day Karen took Victoria to the farmers market. The Kennel had three dogs to be adopted out. One was a little Border Collie. He shied away from everyone except for this older lady. The kennel told her if she took him they would waive the adoption fees. she was extremely happy and took him home. That left a Beagle and a German Shepherd. It was love at first sight between the German Shepherd and Victoria. Karen paid the adoption fee. Victoria had told the lady at the Kennel she was going to call her Skippy because to her it looked as though the dog was Skipping instead of running in the Kennel's yard.
