That evening talking to her mother while washing the dishes for the entire house full of dishes Victoria told her mother it was hard to think about marriage when she hadn't met him yet and the way some of the grownup talk. She knew he just gave her beautiful evening dresses but if he gave her something that really meant a lot to her maybe she would feel more at ease like Stargazer. She told her what the fore man had told her.
Her mother informed Ahriman that Victoria wasn't grown up all the way yet and how she seem so grown up while taking care of the vet's horses. She told him the fore man hated one blondish gold horses named Stargazer that Victoria had gotten very close to and thought if he gave that horse to her it would make her to grow up more and have better feelings for her soon to be husband and might even reform the horse also.
The next day the fore man of the ranch was in a pissy mood when Victoria and her mother came into the barn. He was rough in his talking using some swear words to Victoria telling her that Ahriman had given Stargazer to her as a wedding gift. He then told her he wasn't going to take care of that rridicolous four legged monster. You will clean his stall out, give him a good rub down, exercise him, and feed him every day. Master Ahriman says if you don't then I can and will put that stupid monster down. Do you hear me young lady? Victoria smiled and replied yes sir I can and will do all of that.
She immediately tied Stargazer up to the mechanical horse walker outside in the corral and cleaned the stall out using one of the ranch's forks and broom then with a bucket scrubbed the concrete floor. She turned on the fan to dry the floor before putting new straw down. She then used a insect repellant shampoo for horses and took Stargazer to the back of the barn and gave him a good bath with the watchful eye of the foreman.
While he was drying off outside she dump a wheelbarrow of hay in one of the corners of the stall plus a feed bag of oats and a couple of carrots. She then pour fresh water for him to drink. Before leading him back into the stall she gave him another through brush down. His coat shined more than it had and he didn't once try to bite her.
The foreman yelled if she did all of the horses like that she would spoil all of them and that isn't what Master Ahriman wants. He wants tough horses. The next day he ordered a new improved mechanical walker for the corral. The next Monday a crew came out and installed a new pro walker for the ranch. He forbid her to tie Stargazer up with the rest of the horses. Victoria thought how rude and hateful the fore man was and knew she had to find a way around that
