Dardanos had just started inspecting the perimeter when one of his men called him. He headed towards the guard whom he recognized as Sinna.

At nineteen, Sinna was the youngest in the group and, despite what he had tried to convince Dardanos with in order to get the job, he was quite inexperienced. Dardanos even suspected that this might turn out to be the first time the boy had ever left his village.

Dardanos asked, “Hey, how is it going?”

“Freezing.”

“Well, don’t let it distract you. The point is not to test how good you handle the cold but to keep an eye on this side.”

“Of course.”

“Man up a little, it’s only a couple of hours and someone will relieve you. I’ll get you some hot stew on my way back.”

“No need really, I can handle it. Say captain, about that slave girl we found today.”

“Mm? What about her?”

“Well, it’s just that, I intended to ask you─”

Sinna brushed his hand through his golden hair. He seemed very embarrassed to ask.

Dardanos could already tell where the conversation was going. “It’s okay, ask.”

“Well… I heard that you sold her for three silvers. I was just wondering, how much do you think Cotiso will sell her for?”
