The night air was chilly, but her cloak was warm. Tonight she would be introduced into polite society and was wearing her silk dress. The mask she had found was matching even though it was made of a different fabric. It was beaded with little pearls and only covered the upper part of her face. The velvet cape was heavy and had a deep scarlet color, like blood. At the entrance to Morton Manor, Lord and Lady Cavendish had placed servants to welcome the guests. Morton Manor was not a castle, but grand nonetheless. Famous for it´s high ceilings and classical interior, the ballroom was the perfect stage for any fairytale romance. When Moiira and her family walked in, the room was already filled with people. Her mother, Lady Kincaid believed in making a big entrance, and thus always instructed her daughter to be fashionably late. She never said they needed to be the last.

All eyes were on them as they walked in and were announced ´´Lord and Lady Kincaid, introducing their daughter for the first time...Lady Moira Kincaid!´´ one of the servants shouted. ´What is the point of the mask then?´ Moira thought. She really despised all these silly rules. She felt all eyes on her as she entered the hall, but this was nothing new, she was used to it. Her mother and father were already greeted by Lord and Lady Cavendish. Moira never liked these people, they were first class boot likkers. And only god know´s why, it´s not as if they didn´t have any money. It´s true that Moira´s parents were ranked higher, but who cares? Apparently some people did, a lot.
