After slowly getting over the initial distress, anger, and betrayal, she could no longer remain in her apartment or in New York and resolved to move to Arizona to be near her parents. She would have no problems finding work and could probably start her own software designing company. The prospects were endless.

She did not intend to tell her parents as to what took place between her and Jamal.

That was a tale better left untold.

Before Tawney left New York, she thought about the engagement ring Jamal had given her and decided to go to a high-end jewelry store to have it appraised.

The jeweler examined the ring and informed her that it was a fake.

He said, "There is a way to tell an authentic diamond. Place the diamond on a business card. If you cannot read the letters, it is real. If you can read the print, you can use the ring as a magnifying glass."

A mortified Tawney ran out of the store and threw the ring into a dumpster.
