Angeline began to cough and spewed her sweet tea across the table at him. He jumped up to slap her on the back a few times. “Not very subtle was it?” He questioned giving a little laugh as she slowly began to breathe normally.

“Subtle? Johnnie, why did you not tell me before? That is wonderful. You did it, you finally did it!” She jumped up and threw her arms around him and hugged him tightly. He had wanted to do this for years before she left, but he just never seemed to get around to it. He always shrugged it off, saying that someday he would give it a try.

The doorbell rang and she scooted to the front door opening it before Johnnie could even motion for her to wait. The same little delivery guy stood on her stoop with another flower arrangement. This time, there was one more red and one less white rose in the mixture. “I guess he is trying to work his way up to a full red bouquet for you?”

She took the flowers and Johnnie quickly took them from her, grabbing the card with the edge of his shirt. She looked up at him, “Just in case he actually wrote the message his self.”
