One of the men walked around the park but didn't see her. He told the other one It looked like the dog and her had been displaced from each other. She probably dropped him off at the side of the road and he found himself to town. They stayed looking for her awhile then told the sheriff they wasn't going to pay him unless he could produc the girl. They were told by the sheriff he would call animal control to come and pick up the dog's body and would have it cremated. The two men got into the sedan and left followed by the sheriff leaving in his sheriff's car.
Maria waited a little bit. She could hear Satan whimpering. She knew he was in bad shape and was having trouble breathing. He wasn't even able to hold up his head. She snucked over to him. She craddled his head in her lap and was rubbing his face and neck. She bent her head down and cried for the last time in his hair. She felt something in the tip of his ear and remembered they had a chip with a gps put in his ear so if he was lost they could find him.
He took his last breath in her lap as she held him. She gently laid his head down. She ran back to the apartment and got a knife. She returned to him and cut the tip of his ear off so the animal control wouldn't run it and call the police in her old town. She took a rock and smashed the chip then buried it in the spot he took his last breath and covered the place with a rock. She left his body. She was shaking so bad that she could just barely close and lock the gate so no one would know where she was and went to their apartment and cried herself to sleep. She knew it wasn't the young man who betrayed Satan and her. It was her fault for begging her parents to have the chip put in his ear.
