“Let the rain put out the fire.”

“What rain? It’s not raining hard enough right now to……”

Suddenly the Marshall looked at Kaori and saw that she was looking to the west where a menacing group of clouds had suddenly appeared. The day was suddenly becoming dark as the dense and dark cloud cover blotted out the sunlight.

THRACK! A sound as a single lightning bolt flashed across the Mento sky. This bolt laced from deep in the clouds to somewhere ahead wherein it may have touched the ground. All one could see was this streak lighted up a darkening day. That was followed by a loud thunder clap as the fierce storm approached.

“We should step back into your office Town Marshall. The storm is bringing much rain,” said Kaori with a quiet assurance.

Before she could finish her sentence a heavy rainfall began as the three of them quickly moved back through the door of the Town Marshall’s office. Only the noise of the wind, the tapping sound of the driving rain, and the occasional thunder claps were heard by all in the area.

Yousho and Kaori immediately took their seats and sat quietly with their eyes closed.

The Town Marshall stood at the window of this office.

“This is amazing! I haven’t seen a storm like this one in years. It is raining buckets and the wind is so strong. I see that the men are no longer fighting the fire as the rain is doing that job for us.”
