Averly stopped at one of the Zoo's deli stand on their way out and got a couple of sandwiches, chips, and a cold drink for each of them to consume on their way south. They had another three hour drive before they reached their detination of Pine Valley. They made one rest stop about half way to Pine Valley to Mrs. Shepherd's house.

They arrived shortly before dark. They drove up to a older two story house with a good size covered front porch with two swings mantled up on a rafter at both ends. There was a coupleof younger men who was waiting to unload their car for them. One of the young men looked very familiar to Everely. She recognized him from their old town as Kaleab the funeral's director's nephew who had come to him out when he had hip surgery.
