It was about two weeks later when she received his invitation. She had been at her writing desk penning away content and peaceful. Cassandra burst into the room, nearly knocking Jane from her seat. "What is it, Cassandra?" Jane asked, alarmed and slightly annoyed. "I'm not sure, Jane. It is addressed to you."

Jane carefully opened the message, and then immediately dropped it to the floor in surprise. "Jane? Is something wrong?" Cassandra was a bit worried now. Jane struggled to find the words. "It seems as though we have been invited to attend a ball given by Mr. Lefroy." "Really? Mr. Thomas Lefroy?" Cassandra was a bit shocked herself, for it had been at least two months since they had heard anything of him. "Why who else would it be, Cassandra?" Jane gave a laugh. What was she to make of this? A ball, really? Tom did know that while she was fond of dancing, she didn't care much for balls. Still, Jane thought that this might be her second chance that Henry had spoken of. "Cassandra, we shall go to London in August if you'd like." "Oh how wonderful! Quickly, we must go to town to fetch some ribbons. We will make you the most stunning dress that Mr. Lefroy has ever laid eyes upon!" And much to her dear sister's delight, Jane quickly penned a letter of response to Mr. Lefroy.

Dear Mr. Lefroy, My sister and I have just received your invitation, and while I am a bit stunned at the invite, I will gladly accept. It has been a long while since I have seen the bright lights of London at night, and a ball will be most pleasurable. I will look forward to meeting with you once again.

Gratefully Yours, Ms. Jane Austen
