About halfway to Kanss City the group stopped at a conveince store to fill up and Shelly stayed on the bus and Crystal went in to get them drinks and go to the bathroom when a news bulletin came on the television that they were looking for Crystal that she had killed her husband and taken their little boy. Shelly met her off of the bus was told her that Shane was dead and she was being wanted by the FBI. She knew they had to do something but wasn't sure what to do. They didn't have much time . One of the church members had also saw the news and had recognized Crystal and had begun talking to the other members of the church.
Shelly informed them that Crystal had a very short affair with this man in Baton Rouge and then found out he was a member of the mafia and left him then found out that she was carrying his child and got ahold of her husband whom was seperated from her at that time and they talked and then for the sake of the baby got bak together and somehow the child's father found out and had came to the everglades and even brought the doctor and private investigator down and had killed them and now Crystal's husband and would kill anybody to find the boy and she didn't want him to be raised by that kind of a person. The church group understood but it was a very dangerous situtation and wasn't sure if they wanted to be involved.
