Old Doc Adams decided to hang up his lab coat and retire to his cabin in the woods in a nearby county and recommended that Dr. Sam Chambers become the Chesterfield's County's new coronor. Sam was almost done with the upgrade with his family's house and looking for a new project when the offer came up and he at first was going to say no.

He recieved a letter from old Doc Adams in the mail telling him the difinition of Latrogenic disease and a hint that there was a federal government cover up and he was the exact man for the job. That letter intrigued him so much he accepted the job. He had just arrived at the New Chesterfield County Morgue when the last truck was pulling away from the building. He had a parking spot with a sign reserved for him but there was a trailer with boxes of files parked there. He picked up one box and carried it in as his new assistant was heading out and ran into her.

He was informed the trailer held old cases that was needed to be put in the file room then later filed away. Sam unloaded the trailer and situated the boxes according to the dates on the boxes on a table just outside the file room. Sam remembered old doc Adam's letter stating certain boxes he needed to examine more closely to figure out if he was correct . Dr. Adams also gave sam a name and contact number of a doctor Maillard who had retired and moved overseas and told him that Dr. Maillard could fill in the blanks that he left unfilled. He claimed that doctor Maillard also had a list of people's names that had been put onto the list of latrogenic disease patients.
