I couldn't tell him that was only half the truth. That I too, was used for Satan's vengeance. Dantalion was here to save me but there was nothing left of me to save. He did not appear to acknowledge what I had just said. Pausing in front of me, he reached to touch me and his human fingers passed through my translucent body.

"Are you mad? Have you lost your senses? I know of my transgression. I have paid the price through the ages, and now you torture what is left of me for my sin? I loved her once. And I love you now. That, I will never regret."

Dantalion tried to move his shape shifted body up to mine again, his mouth pressing against an empty soul. He knew I was of immortal blood, yet he never revealed his knowledge of it to me. He held the moonstone Rowan had given him between us.

"It is a gift, from someone close to your heart. Do you remember its powers?"

"Yes, I know. You should keep it safe, until I…" my voice was broken.

"I'm taking you out of here right now..."

Dantalion went to gather my soul from the crystal tomb and an aura of crimson flames burned around us, opening up the flames to reveal a brilliant evening star, quickly shape shifting into his true demonic form. His black wings emerged and eyes as red as the fires burning around us, locked our gaze.

"Welcome Dantalion! Ye who sat at the throne of the heavens, guardian of mankind. Behold! Condemned, fallen as did I. Thou hath been cursed for two ages. And yet, thou still finds love amongst a mortal girl? Fool! Have thou not learned from thy transgression?"

"I remember you my brother, when I was a young guardian of the third heaven. You were the brightest star, a warrior angel," Dantalion pleaded with him.

"Aye, though I was never equal to God!" Satan replied, eyes filled with hatred.

"Satan, I know the truth. It was you who condemned me by your trickery. Lilith was not a mortal but a storm demon, a temptress from the desert. All this time I suffered, believing in something that was but a lie. Your lie!" Dantalion realized Satan had turned against him.

"My reign in the third heaven became a void. I remembered how coveted a guardian thee were. What not better revenge upon God than to bring down young Dantalion!" Satan sneered.

"I was but eighteen seasons," Dantalion reminded him.
