Rowan nodded, moving his armies toward the glowing sigil down the hall, the other demons searching for their chambers.

Within the fourth house, Belial had already found his gold sigil above his name. It was cold and dormant, a strange aura clinging in the air as he directed his legions to their quarters.

"Aye, my brother, behold, I am the angel of light and the angel of darkness," Belial spoke into the cold dark chamber. "Guardian over the Northern Infernal Realm, I seek to call upon thee."

A flicker inside the hearth illuminated crimson and indigo flames, Satan's aura looming within Belial's chamber. "What say you, Belial?"

"Tis the Guardian, Dantalion, with his newly restored immortality who hath released our brother demons of the Goetia," Belial chanted. "I believe the time has come to use this to thy advantage. Lure she who he covets most back within our grasp. Force him to sign the oath and summon us, the rightful and great four Kings of Hell to our Infernal Realms where we reign supreme!"

"Have thou not heard, thy cannot touch the coveted and protected guardian of mankind?" Satan sneered.

"Then, together we shall convince him, by making the girl call him forth," Belial's clawed fingers scratched across the stone. "We will begin now, whilst she still waits in the Courtyard of the Undead."

"Yes," Satan paused, consorting with Belial, "though my purpose to summon the girl is hardly to force the signing of the oath. She who still owes unto me her flesh and blood, I believeth she could have become quite satisfied had she remained with me as Guardian over the Southern Infernal Realm," Satan hissed. "Yes, she will feel thy claws draw across her skin once more."

Rowan's divine magick allowed him to sense an aura of evil, something terrible that was about to happen to me. He called King Vine, Prince Sitri, Count Druitte, and Count Halphas to his chamber. Conspiring among each other, they agreed to return to the Courtyard. Using their mortality, they would call upon the guardians for protection and hoped it was Dantalion who answered.

Dantalion too, still holding my heart within his, sensed something wicked. His dark eyes, empty now, remembered the longing for something that immortality could never give, and tasting of that something, that piece of mortality from my world, left his conscience once again, no longer clear.

The brilliance he now held bound him to his place among God, though it was his human form he sought to embrace…to guard… to protect. The mortal girl who obsessed with him as a demon, loved him as a human, and glorified him as an angel, now sought his help. He could only hope I remembered invocation of the holy guardian angel, calling upon him in prayer, as it went with angels, and not elaborate rituals of demonic evocation.
