Without thought, her steps led her to the barn. She worked until her arms and back ached, but nothing erased the pain, confusion, and doubt filling her heart. "School will help me refocus, but that's weeks away. Why is life complicated?" she said resting against the shovel handle.

Arms encircled her waist and Megan melted against the man. "Colby," she whispered. How did he know I needed him? What is this connection between us? Does it have to be explained? Why can't I experience it without questioning every move and detail? When she tried to turn, he stopped her. "I have to tell you something, but I can't. Not yet. Be patient with me. In a few days you'll know everything, and life will make sense. Listen to your heart, it never lies." He kissed the top of her head and then left.

She ran after him, but it was like he vanished into thin air. "In a few days I'll understand everything. Do I laugh, scream, or cry? Why can't I understand now?" A circle with the four seasons flashed before her eyes. "What does it mean? Why does the vision surround Colby?"

Darkness shrouded camp like a large blanket. Yawns escaped her mouth. "In the morning I'll visit the River of Hope." Though the sky remained starless, Megan sent a plea upwards. "Gray Cloud, hear my call. Meet me tomorrow morning. You're the one who can explain my vision." As she scuffed her boot in the ground, she said, "Who am I kidding? He won't tell me anything. Instead, he'll ask questions making me decide what it means. Sometimes I find this place annoying."

Seeing the barn light on, Megan returned. While visiting Misty, the mare snorted and banged against her stall. "Whoa, girl," Megan said, trying to calm the horse. "What's got you spooked?"

A large, muscular hand closed over her shoulder. The possessive touch triggered tension. Ice water ran through her veins, but sweat covered her forehead. The hand gripped tighter. Now I know why I was off kilter. He has no intention of leaving. How do I face him now? What is lurking in his eyes?
