They arrived at the Baylor's then, and as they got out of the car, Starke took Candee's hand and said, "Let’s walk around back, I'm sure that's where they all are on this nice day" so hand in hand they walked around to the rear of the house.
The dog spotted them first and barked a hello, as he ran up to greet them, then the three k's shouted Uncle Starke, and they ran over to greet them, little Katie toddled over and he bent and scooped her up in his arms, she threw her arms around his neck and planted a loud smooch on his cheek, Candee chuckled and said, "I think you are her first crush," he said, "yeah!"
Then they spotted the adults, sitting at an umbrella table, and walked over to join them, they all said hi, then Starke set Katie down, and she promptly toddled off to her sand box. Then Starke leaned down and kissed his mom. Then he said, "we have news we wanted to share with all of you", they all said oh ... and they all burst out laughing in unison and he turned to Candee and said, "you think they suspect?" she just shrugged her shoulders, he went on then, I've ask Candee to marry me and she said, "yes" Julie put her hand out palm up, fingers wiggling and said, "come on let's see the ring," so Candee put her left hand out showing all of them her gorgeous ring, Julie said, wow! Cam said yowsa! And Anne said, lovely, you have good taste in rings and women son, too Candee she said," "the color of the diamond suits you dear." The boys ooh'd and ah'd, then said see ya later and ran off no doubt to their tree house.
Cam got up then and went to pull two more lawn chairs up to the table, said, "I'll be right back" and went into the house, he came back with a bottle of champagne and five glasses he said, "I think this calls for a toast," and he popped the bottle open and began to fill the glasses, then he raised his glass as did they all and he said, "to the soon to be newest member of our family, Candee we welcome you," and to Starke, bro your one lucky s.o.b, hope you know that? And they all drank, and laughed at his goofy toast.
Then Anne spoke up and asks the big question, have you two set a date? She looked at Candee as she ask, Candee said, as she looked from Anne to Julie, well, "do you think we could pull it all together in a month?" because we were thinking of the end of June, then all three women started chattering at once, and Cam said, to Starke how do they do that? and still know what each one is saying and even manage to reply, it boggles man's mind, then he threw his arm around Starke and said, "why don't we sneak into the house grab a beer and catch a game on TV, I bet they won't even miss us?" and they walked up to the house, hearing the women chatter on, and on.
