Chad slept all night undisturbed, to awake early next morning, upon awakening as he moved his hand something felt different, he lifted it slowly and saw something shining on his finger, it looked like a fine thread of copper wiring, as he raised it near his face he realized that it was hair, which he promptly unwound, discovering that it was very long indeed, he touched it to his cheek and felt it's silkiness, and he remembered a gorgeous redheaded angel who visited him last night, redheaded .. .it now began to dawn on him this must have been "Big Red".
He heard a tap, tap on his partly open door; he turned his head just in time to see his dad walk through the doorway. Are you ready to get out of here soon? I sure am, will they let me? Just as an orderly came in with the traditional wheel chair even though the patient may be capable of walking on their own. He helped Chad to dress, in the fresh clothes his dad had brought along with him, and then they were on their way.
His dad did the driving and for awhile they were quiet, then Chad ask, "hey, dad who won the dam derby anyway?" His dad said, "open the glove box over there," so Chad did and there was his check for the winning purse, and it was the biggest he'd ever won, wow he said this is worth a bump on the old noggin, his dad laughed and said, "you think?" Your big trophy is home in a place of honor.
They got quiet for a few more minutes and then Chad said, "you know dad I thought I died and was visited by an angel last night," "really," said, his dad, don't suppose this angel had beautiful long red hair did she? With that Chad turned his head to fast and said, ouch! How did you know that dad? Well we spent some time together that angel and I. Chad had no reply to that he just got quiet. His dad made a stop at their favorite donut shop and then they were on their way again and Chad noticed they were almost home, and if he could stay awake just maybe he'd get on line, and hopefully "Big Red" would be on too.
