He looked up and saw Candee had tears running down her lovely cheeks, hey, enough of that now, we're here to have some fun, he said lets go dance some more and he took her hand and led her onto the floor and they danced till their feet hurt and looked as if they had been two stepping together forever.
They danced and laughed till the band played the last song, and realized that the place was almost empty, Starke said, I guess the party is over" as they say" she laughed and said," guess you could say that," they got up and he walked her to the door and to her jeep, which seemed perfectly intact tonight, he said, "I'd like to see you again," she said "yes, I had a wonderful time, you know my name now, you can call me," he said. "yes, I can" and he leaned in and gave her a quick soft kiss, that made her long for more, he said goodnight pretty lady, I will call you, and he got into his truck, waited till she was in her jeep, and safely on her way before he started his pick-up and drove off himself.
As he drove home, it kept going through his mind, this is right, this is right, he felt as though she should be right there along side of him going home, in due time old buddy, in due time. He took his hat off and hung it up on the roof rack in his truck and ran his hand through his hair, and thought I'm smitten for sure, she's in my blood as if she's always been there waiting to flow into my heart, and it's strange but it's a feeling as if Marie is waiting there to welcome Candee to join her, it's almost a mystical experience for him, and it's healing and it is good. He turned the radio on and they were playing "My Maria" and he sang along at the top of his lungs the rest of the way to his cabin.
Candee was in her jeep headed in the opposite direction, she too had the radio on and was humming along with it, and thinking about this handsome, great guy that's come into her life, and also thinking of the feathery soft kiss he had placed on her lips, and had fluttered straight down to her heart. This could very well be the best thing to come into her life in a very long time, or more like in forever. She sighed as she pulled into her driveway, she glanced at the clock before shutting off the engine and saw that is was two o'clock in the morning, she saw that there was a light drizzle of rain now and thought, thank goodness tomorrow, rather today is Sat. it will be a good day to sleep late. She yawned and got out of her jeep and went into her place.
