“Now I don’t have all day, are you going to sign that or not?” Mandisa asked.

“The question is has your sister signed it?” Tebogo asked her. There was no hint in his voice that he cared about her. To him she had just been an obstacle that had required seducing to get through.

“Of course.” Mandisa said looking everywhere but at him.

“Then I guess it is a done deal.” Tebogo said. He took the document and gave it to his lawyer. Rose smiled with triumph on the couch.

“It was a pleasure doing business with you Miss Dladla.” Tebogo said standing next to her and offering her his hand. Mandisa looked at it then up at him. Surely he wasn’t serious. His face said he was. It had been nothing but pleasure for him while it had been hell for her and her sisters. The Motsepes were really devil’s workers.

“I hope in the near future we can be friends.”

His hand remained offered and Mandisa looked away from him certain that if she didn’t do so he would see tears in them. Her eyes fell on six packed suitcases near the door. She hadn’t noticed them upon her arrival. She hadn’t noticed anything apart from Rose and the fact that he hadn’t been there.

“Why is your luggage by the door?” She turned and looked at Tebogo. “Where are you going?”

“We are going home.” Rose said jumping off the couch. “Aren’t you glad that we are finally going to let you and your sisters get back to your boring lives?”

Tebogo dropped his hand realizing she wasn’t going to take it and said. “If you don’t get a move on, mother, you are going to miss your flight.”

“Wait?’ Mandisa said, still frowning at the suitcases. “Am I missing something here?”

“Who knows, who cares.” Rose answered fast. “Like my son said, it was nice doing business with you now if you don’t mind…” She tried to shoo Mandisa to the door but Mandisa wouldn’t budge.

“The court case was in two days time, why would you leave before then.”

Rose shrugged unconcerned.

“I’ve never been a big fan of courts.” She said carefree but there was something in her eyes that made Mandisa think she was hiding something.
