"Serve him right, the filthy paedophile," one of Mr Redmond's neighbours said when interviewed today. "I saw and heard nothing at all. Whoever is responsible for this did the world a big favour. I'll bet the rest of his little gang are crapping their pants right now."
The confidential source confirmed that there were several leads that were being pursued, although there appeared to be minimal physical evidence found at the scene which could be used to convict the perpetrator.
Mr Robert Wilson, one of the other politicians named in the newspaper report, could not be reached for comment this morning. His housekeeper confirmed that Mr Wilson had been called back home to Scotland early this morning on urgent family business. Further attempts to communicate with Mr Wilson have so far been unsuccessful.
