"Don't you?" she smiled with satisfaction at my discomfort. I said nothing, hoping she'd just keep talking and stop looking at me like that.

"Don't worry, Mark. I'm not going to eat you. Not unless you want me too," she purred, and chuckled when I blushed. I glared at her defiantly through my embarrassment.

"I chose you because you are young. You haven't learned to use the power that will be flooding your system in a couple of days. You are not as dangerous as the others yet. And you really are very pretty."

"What about what I want?" Pretty? Seriously?

"You know," she said with a speculative glance, "that was something I hadn't considered. Mind you, Jack never cared about what I wanted, and we seemed to get along just fine after a while."

Gross, I thought.

"Angus is going to find me."

"I know," she said unconcernedly. "I'm counting on it. But there won't be any rescuing this time, Mark. Don't worry, honey. You'll learn to love me eventually. And if you don't, that's also not a problem."

I shuddered. It was so much worse, knowing what was coming. And now I was worried about Angus. This bitch must have set a trap for him. But Angus was no fool. He knew more about the evil in people than most humans did. He'd know.

He must know.
