"I'm just going to get straight to the point. I was so wrong on so many levels for sleeping with you. I would never want to hurt David, for one. I remember what that kind of hurt feels like."

"Alyssa, are you telling me that you can just go back home and forget what happened between us? I don't think it will be that easy, sweetheart. I will do anything to make you mine again. I am older and so much wiser, and I promise you that I won't do anything to mess up what we have again. Just give us another chance."

"I can't just start up with you, just like that," I said snapping my fingers. "Please accept my decision. Besides, I have to go or I will be late making it to the airport. If I want to make my flight on time, I really need to leave now." I slung my shoulder bag onto my shoulder and attempted to grab the handle to pull my luggage, but Drake took them both from me.

"I got it. Let's go," he said with hurt in his eyes.

Taking the elevator down to the lobby, I returned the key to the front desk and we were out the door. The sun was blazing. The day was gorgeous, yet I had a heavy heart that was so torn. I popped the trunk, so he could store my luggage. I stood on the driver's side trying to hold in tears that were threatening to fall.

"Here take my card," he said handing it to me. "All of my contact numbers are on there. You can call me for anything; it doesn't matter what time of day or night." Taking his card, I slid it into my purse. "Now, can I have your number? I need to stay in touch, if only to see how life is treating you," he said.

Since he put it that way, I didn't see any harm in him having my cell. "It's 555-737-5065," I said as he entered it into his phone.

"This is not goodbye," he said and pulled me into his arms. His eyes were glassy as he embraced me like he never wanted to let me go. "I will never say goodbye to you again baby," he whispered against my ear.

"I really need to leave, Drake." My emotions were getting the best of me. I knew, if I broke down in front of him, there would be no way in hell he would let me leave. Before letting me go, he made me promise to let him know when I arrived. I agreed to call him when I got home and slid behind the wheel.
